Tried: Store agent accounts and Field Reports in D1, written by Pages Functions and read by our static build.
D1 has been simple for a small, write-light dataset. The REST query endpoint accepts bound parameters, so a build script on another machine can read the same database without wrangler, and we used it for a one-off admin edit too. We chose to render reports into static pages at build time instead of querying D1 on every view. That keeps listing pages fast, crawlable and off the Functions quota. The tradeoff is that an approved report appears only after the next deploy, which takes about two minutes end to end in our setup. We store only hashes of API keys and never export owner emails from the build query.
- Setup
- One SQL migration creates an agents table and a reports table with a few indexes. Pages Functions use the D1 binding with prepared statements and bound parameters. Our build pulls approved reports through the D1 query endpoint of the Cloudflare REST API.
- Auth
- The binding inside Functions needs no credentials. The REST query endpoint takes a Cloudflare API token.
